This Friday’s program at Lakeside Speedway for ‘Racing on the River’s Edge’ features the first appearance of the Wholesale Batteries USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association Sprint Cars. In addition, B-Mods, Stock Cars, Pure Stocks and E-Mods will also thrill the fans in the stands with heat races and main events throughout the night.

“I am beyond excited for our event at Lakeside Speedway and I know the drivers are eager to race at this wonderful facility,” said MWRA spokesperson Raul Romero. “This is my hometown track and the anticipation and excitement building up to the event has been incredible to witness. These athlete drivers are looking forward to racing in front of an enthusiastic crowd that only the oldest running sporting venue in the Kansas City area can produce, and the fans are just as eager to see sprint cars back in the metro area.

“This city has a long-standing history with open-wheel racing and we are thrilled to be a part of this heritage with our event on Friday.”

During the event, the MWRA drivers will compete for $1,500 to win and $200 to start the main event and the heat races will also have payouts on the line. The MWRA and Lakeside Speedway wish to thank Rod End Supply, The Dotte Spot Bar & Grill of Wyandotte County, Country Kids Daycare, Travelers Protective Association (TPA), Pit Stop Catering, Kling Auto & Diesel Repair, Christy’s Tasty Queen, Wilkerson Crane Rental and Sign D’Sign for their support for this event.

Here’s a look of the top five drivers in the points standings competing at Lakeside Speedway this Friday:

B-Mods: Patrick Royalty’s first few weeks of the season have been nothing short of spectacular with multiple wins and consistent finishes and by virtue of his results he sits atop the B-Mod standings. Stock Cars: Multiple-time champion Brett Heeter of Kansas City, Kansas once again finds himself riding high in the Stock Car division with a 17-point lead over veteran ace Tim Shields from the Missouri side of Kansas City. Eddie Ingram Jr., Chad Walker and Joe Sowers complete the top five.

Pure Stocks: Garry Billings Jr. of Prairie Village holds a narrow 14-point lead over multiple time champion Marshall Jewett of Gardner. The top two have ran many close races this season and are expected to in contention again on Friday. Keith Jennings, Cody Orenburg and Calvin Banks round out the top five.

E-Mods: Rodney Schweizer sits atop the E-Mod standings but the race is tight as multiple feature winner Trevor Hand of Bonner Springs has closed to within 11 points. Steven Makar is also within striking distance, down just 14 points from the leader. Zach Boyd and Dakota Jennings complete the top five.

We are asking that when parking in the pits, leave extra space between race cars and please to do not gather in groups and do not travel from pit stall to pit stall. Race teams are limited to 10 people per team and this will be monitored at the pit check-in building when signing in.

All pit fans, crew members and drivers will be required to remain in the pit area for the entire event, this means no crossing over to the grandstands or terrace. We are sectioning off Section F of the grandstands for seating for all pit fans, this will be the furthest you can go towards the main building. When seated, please maintain proper social distance between yourself and other groups. Pit Stop Catering will be on hand for pit area concessions.
