Seventy race teams filed their way into Lakeside Speedway on Friday evening for Casey’s Night. It was a blistering summer evening as the fans on hand witnessed 13 preliminary heat races and six main events by the end of the night.

Pure Stocks: Heat race winners included Garry Billings Jr. and Don Marrs. Billings and Marrs were on the front row for the 12-lap main event as Billings was in search of his fifth feature win. However, the lengthy race challenged drivers to the fullest as the top five shuffled from the original start. Billings was strong up front over Marshall Jewett and Jason Parks, who started sixth and eighth, respectively, and advanced to the front while Billings and Marrs worked to stay in the top five. In the end after a late-race restart it was Jewett who collected his second feature win of the year fending off Parks for the victory. Billings slipped to third ahead of Marrs and Spencer Reiff at the finish.

Grand Nationals: Darren Kling started his night off with a heat race victory with Don Marrs winning the second heat race. The 10-lap feature began with Kling and Marrs occupying row one. Marshall Jewett had hopes of collecting another win, but his night ended by lap seven. Up front, Marrs and Kling held their spots with sixth-starting Donnie Brown moving to the top three by race's end. Marrs took the victory over Kling, Donnie Brown, Steven Dibben and Tyler Bruner, who moved from eighth to fifth to close out the feature.

E-Mods: Going on to collect heat wins were Rodney Schweizer and Steven Makar and they occupied row one for the 15-lap main event with Makar on the throttle out front. Meanwhile, Trevor Hand and Paul Lanfermann battled closely behind the leaders as Lanfermann charged from his sixth starting position to the top three by race's end. Makar, of Basehor, was not to be denied on this night as he took the win over Schweizer, Lanfermann, Hand and Justin Bell. It was Makar’s third win of the season as he gained points on Hand and Schweizer in one of the closest points battles of the season.

Mod-Lites: Justin Raffurty bested his cousin, Michael Raffurty, in the opening Mod-Lite heat with Anthony Kerr taking a big win in heat two over Kevin White. Kerr and Justin Raffurty led the field for the start of the main event but as the pair raced hard up front, fifth-starting Jeff Raffurty emerged from row three to challenge the front-runners with Michael Raffurty also running strong. In a race that took just over five minutes, Jeff Raffurty stalked his son, Justin, who led the majority of the race and went on to pick up his first feature win of the season with Michael Raffurty finishing second and Justin Raffurty third for an all-Raffurty podium. White was fourth with James Beebe moving up for fifth.

B-Mods: Three heat races determined the main event lineup with Tim Powell, Luke Nieman and Andy Bryant taking the heat race wins. Powell and Bryant earned the most passing points to begin the 15-lapper from the front row. Bryant and Powell were both strong out of the gate to set the pace. The race ultimately pushed the 20-minute mark with Fort Scott's Bryant collecting the victory in dominating fashion with Powell securing second. Shadren Turner moved forward from fifth to claim third while 18th-starting Patrick Royalty rebounded from his heat race to claim fourth. Royalty was able to slip in the hot pit area to change a flat tire and still made his way to the top five. Points leader Nieman completed the top five.

A-Mods: Heat winners included points leader Tyler Hibner over Austin Siebert in heat one while Justin Johnson claimed heat two ahead of Tyler Davis. For the 20-lap nightcap event, the drivers were full throttle as the race took just over nine minutes to complete. Johnson was in search of his second feature win of the year with Hibner—the current points leader—trying to collect his first. While Hibner was strong, Darron Fuqua moved from fifth on the grid to advance to the runner-up spot but ran out of time and laps as Johnson turned in another stellar run to add a second victory on the season to his stats as he went unchallenged. Fuqua settled for second with Hibner taking third and his fifth top-five finish of the season to maintain his points lead. Siebert started and finished fourth with former champion Nic Bidinger moving up on position for fifth.
