Chris Dishong won the E-Mod main event.

Chris Dishong won the E-Mod main event.

Once again mother nature played a major part in the races Friday night by delivering over 3 inches of rain days before Friday nights show. This had GM Darren Bennet and staff rise to the occasion and produced a racy fast track from top to bottom bringing praise from racers and fans alike about how well the show was.

The first class up for the evening would be the Pure Stock class. The class would see Lakeside Speedway regular Marshall Jewett pick up the win. He dedicated the win to his wife as they were celebrating their anniversary racing Friday. Right behind your leader was Tobin Bartlett who made a last lap run at Jewett, but came up just short at the finish line.

The E-Mods would be the next class out and they too would see a new winner on the 2022 season. Chris Dishong would pick up his first E-Mod feature this year. Behind your leader would be a pair of rookies coming home 2nd and 3rd, Devin Dultmeier and Andrew Hodges both had their best finishes this year.

The USRA Stock Cars were up next for their 15 lap feature.  This feature would also see a first time winner with Ed Griggs leading from flag to flag. Griggs number 47 was only slowed by a couple of mid race caution, but made the most of his first trip to Lakeside this year. Last weeks feature winner had another strong run coming home in the 2nd spot with Mr. Consistency Jaylen Wettengel coming home in 3rd.

The USRA B-Mods made the way to the Speedway for their feature. Andy Bryant would continue his winning streak with the Ft Scott Kansas driver picking up his second win on the week as he also picked up the hardware at Lucas Oil Speedway. Bryant would lead flag to flag for his first win at Lakeside this year. Shad would have another strong run with a 2nd place finish and Gabe Hodges will come home in the 3rd spot.

The USRA Modifieds would close out the show with bang. Cody Owens would return to Lakeside after taking a few years off leading the field from the drop of the green. Behind Owens would see Tyler Hibner, Danny Scrogham and Nic Bidinger all fighting for position. Owens would be slowed by a late race caution which would bring a green, white, checkered finish. Owens would get the jump at the green and appeared to be on his way to the Rod End Supply victory lane, but 2nd place runner Nic Bidinger had other ideas. As Owens brought the field off of turn 4. In front of your leaders was lapped traffic, Owens had to check up as he and Bidinger passed the lap car and Bidinger would get Owens at the line by .013 seconds.  An exciting race closed out Mothers Day weekend with the Perry, Kansas driver getting his first win this year.

Coming up this week Lakeside is in action Thursday with the USAC Sprint Cars and again Friday with the SLMR Late Models in action.
