Racing roars back to life at Lakeside Speedway this Friday night with another special event; CARB Night at the races! That’s right this Friday night every CARB Member gets into Lakeside Speedway for FREE!!! August 28th never looked so good before! Wait that’s not it Kenny’s Tile Racing, based in Grandview, Missouri has partnered with the Central Auto Racing Boosters to award a $500.00 Winner’s Bonus Check at this Fridays upcoming CARB Night Event at Lakeside Speedway to the A-Mod Feature Winner! It’s everything fans could ask for as the season begins to work it’s way down the final stretch.

Last Week’s Recap…
Last Friday night the USMTS Modifieds blew into town and it was last year’s reigning champ of the USMTS, Rodney Sanders, getting the job done. The big races on the night might have been in the USRA B Mods and Stocks Cars. John O’Neal beat Brett Heeter to the finish line for the win in the Stock Car Feature and it was Chad Clancy nudging out Chase Austin at the line in the B Mod A Main.

Setting Up This Week’s Races…

USRA Modifieds…

Rodney Sanders came out with the win and it marked the 10th different winner on the season.

Eight Lakeside USRA regulars made the 27 car field for the feature last Friday night. Kerry Davis, the current points leader, started the highest in 2nd. Unfortunately for Davis mechanical issues would take him out of the feature early.

Shad Badder, not a Lakeside regular and not a USMTS regular, had the highest finish on the night in 5th. Another driver in the top 10 was Darron Fuqua, who finished in 9th.

Kerry Davis still leads the points with Tim Karrick in 2nd. There is only 7 races left this season and if Karrick is going to make a move, he might want to get after it this Friday night.

After a big event like last Friday night’s USMTS Race, it will be interesting to see how the drivers re-acclimate themselves back into their championship battle.

A total of 50 different drivers have logged laps at Lakeside Speedway this season.

Kenny’s Tile Racing will be offering an extra $500 for the winner of the USRA Modified Feature! This should produce even more excitement than normal.

Tim Karrick #1K, Basehor, KS.

Tim Karrick is a driver that has become used to winning and winning often at Lakeside Speedway. Karrick has won championships, features and big money races at Lakeside Speedway! The last few years haven’t yielded the type of results that Karrick is used to, but he has rebounded well this season. He might not have a lot of wins to show for it but with 7 races left he is in a chance to win another track championship. The last few weeks Karrick has been running strong and last week with the USMTS turned in a 17th place finish. This momentum makes Karrick a driver to watch this week. Let’s see if he doesn’t land in victory lane.

USRA Stock Cars…

Last Friday night’s feature was awesome with a capital A! John O’Neal Jr. and Brett Heeter battled it out all the way to the finish. A ton of respect was delivered by each driver as they never once touched and gave the crowd some of the most excitement of the night.

O’Neal’s win was his 2nd win of the season. Not bad for the new Stock Car Chassis builder. Win on Friday, sell em on Monday!

Brett Heeter remains in line for winning his 3rd championship. As Heeter finished 2nd last week and he now has a 234 point lead in the standings over Bobby Tavis III.

Nate Barnes was the Hard Charger last week going from 10th to 3rd in the main event. Barnes is primed to end up in victory lane sometime soon.

In the USRA Stock Car division a total of 45 different drivers have signed in to race at Lakeside Speedway in 2015.

USRA Stock Car Driver To Watch This Week…

Tom Fogarty #T2, Olathe, KS.

Tom Fogarty is celebrating a strong 2015 season. Currently sitting 3rd in the points, Fogarty is a driver that could be up for the ‘most improved driver’ this season. No, Fogarty doesn’t have a win under his belt, but he is coming along nicely. He has been consistently in the top 10 and top 5 all year long. This is why Fogarty is so high in the standings. It should only be a matter of time before Fogarty hauls in a win. This Friday night could be his night and this makes him a driver to watch!

USRA B Mods…

Just like the Stock Car division, the USRA B Mods also put on a great show last Friday night. Chad Clancy and Chase Austin went back and forth and door to door for several laps in the feature. In the end it would be Chad Clancy winning by the length of his bumper over Austin.

The win was Clancy’s 2nd of the season.

Austin just missed out on his bid for 3 straight wins at Lakeside this season. Only Brad Smith has pulled that feat off in the B Mods.

A pair of seasoned veterans, Gene Claxton and Doug Keller, made superior runs last week. Claxton started 15th and finished 5th and Keller started 20th and drove up to a 6th place finish.

Ed Noll finished 4th last week in the feature and with his strong finish Noll still holds the upper hand in the standings. With 7 races left Noll has an 86 point lead over 2nd place Luke Nieman.

It was a long night for the USRA B Mod National Points leader Andy Bryant last Friday night. Bryant suffered problems early in the race and pulled off after having battled up at the front in the first few laps.

Five of the top 15 in National USRA points standings were racing at Lakeside Speedway last Friday night.

Seventy-three different drivers have registered to race at Lakeside Speedway in 2015.

Ed Noll, #15, Excelsior Springs, MO.

Yes, I know that it’s a stretch picking the points leader and 4x feature winner as the Driver to Watch this Friday night. Noll has been kept out of victory lane for a little while, we feel that this week might be the week he gets back to victory lane. Noll hasn’t been having bad weeks even though he isn’t winning. Each week Noll finishes in the top 5 and this has kept him at the top of the standings. This week look for Noll to establish his dominance over the class and gain more valuable points leading to the 2015 Track Championship.

Grand Nationals…

Last time out it was Nick Newton hauling in his 2nd win of the season. It marked the first time that another driver, other than Tim Shields, has won multiple features.

It also meant that it was the first time all season that Tim Shields was kept out of victory lane for 2 straight races.

After a week off, the Grand National racers should be ready to rock and roll this Friday night.

Tim Shields still has a big lead with 7 races left in the Grand National division. Marshall Jewett is in 2nd right now but he is 216 points out.

Dave Powell #2, Kearney, MO.

Dave Powell is one of those racers that every race track owner/promoter loves to have. A driver that shows up each and every week, races and has a good time. Powell is an ambassador of the sport and he is a good racer too. Powell is the one driver that hasn’t blasted up to the front of the field, just yet! This week could be his week. We here at Race Night Notes thinks that Powell is a very deserving racer to have the honor of being this week’s driver to watch. A strong run could be in the works for Powell this Friday night.
