At long last, the dirt will fly again at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas this Friday as 65 years of Racing on The River’s Edge continues at the city’s oldest sporting venue! After a spring and early summer filled with heartache over unstable water levels and continued flooding, in the end, perseverance is the name of the game as track owners Don and Donna Marrs and General Manager Pete Howey are now ready for the speedway to roar back to life!

Opening nights are always special at any speedway after a long period of inactivity, but for Lakeside Speedway, this opening night is one of the most anticipated opening nights at any track across the nation this season. Drivers and fans are eager for the return of racing with A-Mods, B-Mods, Stock Cars, Pure Stocks, E-Mods, Mod-Lites, and Grand Nationals ready to compete. In addition, this weekend marks the beginning of the Top Gun Series and the track will also pay homage to those drivers who have sadly departed us this season in a night of racing dedicated to their honor.

The Pit area opens at 5, followed by Grandstand Admission at 6. The Driver’s Meeting takes place at 7:15, Hot Laps roll out at 7:30, with the first green-flag of the night flying at 8 o’clock. Admission information: Grandstands: Adults (16+) $12, Seniors and Military $10, Juniors (12-15) $6, Under 12 FREE. Terrace: Adults (16+) $15, Seniors/Military $12, Juniors (12-15) $8, Under 12 FREE. The ‘Top Gun’ series takes place each race weekend in the month of August and runs for five weeks using an accumulative championship points system among competition at Lakeside Speedway on Friday nights and Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg on Saturdays. Race divisions for the Top Gun series include: A-Mods, B-Mods, Pure Stocks, and E-Mods. Lakeside Top Gun Series Dates are August 2, 9, 16,23, and 30. The coinciding dates at CMS are August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31.

As announced last week, due to the late start, Lakeside Speedway is extending the 2019 schedule. The season will now conclude on Friday, October 4, 2019. A champion will emerge from these 10 weeks of racing in each of the weekly race divisions. Lakeside Speedway will recognize the weekly champions and the Top Gun Series champions in each of the divisions at the annual combined Lakeside Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway banquet at the Elks Lodge in Blue Springs, Missouri on Saturday, November 9th. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for ticketing and detailed information regarding this event.

There is No Driver Registration Fee for any of the participating car classes. For the revised schedule, we are making some slight modifications.
