Lakeside Speedway Hosts the Karl Tinsley Pure Stock Special and Top Dog Series this Friday!

After last week’s heartbreaking weather cancellation, the staff at Lakeside Speedway is eager to welcome the return of drivers and fans for the annual Karl Tinsley Pure Stock Special event and week four of the ongoing Top Gun Series during this Friday’s race program!

Pure Stocks take center stage for their annual track special event, honoring the late Karl Tinsley, who was a Kansas City, Kansas native who became a respected racing engine builder at Anderson Racing, Inc. (ARI). Participating drivers will compete under the MO-KAN Pure Stock rules, which are conveniently located on the speedway website at www.lakesidespeedway.net, from there, click on the RULES/FORMS link at the top of the page and scroll down to select “2019-2024 PURE STOCK RULES.”

The payout for the Factory Stock Karl Tinsley Memorial is: 1st $500, 2nd $300, 3rd $275, 4th $250, 5th $225, 6th $200, 7th $175, 8th $150, 9th $130, 10th $120, 11th $110, 12th $100, 13th to 24th) $75. Tow money is $50. All total, the special purse is $3,435. If 24 or more cars sign-in for competition, the purse will increase to $700-to-win and start pay increases to $100. A late addition sponsor added $250 to the winner's share and now the race will pay $750-to-win.

This Friday’s race program includes A-Mods, B-Mods, Stock Cars, Pure Stocks, E-Mods, Mod-Lites, and Grand Nationals. Timeline: Pits open at 5, Grandstands at 6, Drivers Pill Draw closes at 6:45 (no passing points if late), Drivers Meeting begins at 7, Hot Laps at 7:15, and Racing at 8.

Admission information: Grandstands Adults (16+) $12, Seniors/Military $10, Juniors (12-15) $6, Under 12 FREE
Terrace: Adults (16+) $15, Seniors/Military $12, Juniors (12-15) $8, Under 12 FREE. Suites: Adults (16+) $20, Juniors (2-15) $10, Under 2 FREE (limited availability). Pit Passes: Ages 7+ $35, 6 and Under $10.

Weekly point standings update: With two weeks in the record books, Marshall Jewett leads the way in Pure Stock competition with 218 points ahead of Spencer Reiff (190) and Wayne Brooke (178). Shawn Burns leads in E-Mods with 212 points followed by Buz Kaster (197) and Steven Makar (179). Kevin Anderson and Tim Shields are tied in Stock Car action with 182 points with Gary Donaldson third (178). In B-Mods, J.C. Morton is the leader at 200 points in front of Patrick Royalty (172) and Sturgis Streeter (162). Tyler Wolff leads in the A-Mods with 200 points, followed by Nic Bidinger (179) and Terry Schultz (167).

Top Gun Series standings update: After three weeks of competition, here is a quick look at the standings in each participating division. Spencer Reiff holds a commanding lead in Pure Stocks with 463 points with Darrin Christy (299) and Logan Headley (272) second and third. Steven Makar leads E-Mods at 424 points over Shawn Burns (395) and Dakota Earls (395). Patrick Royalty currently sets the pace in B-Mods with 434 points ahead of Jake Richards (418) and Sturgis Streeter (416). Lastly, in the A-Mods, Tim Karrick leads the way with 440 points over Terry Schultz (403) and Allan Lawrence and Rodney Schweizer (340).

The ‘Top Gun’ series takes place each race weekend in the month of August and runs for five weeks using an accumulative championship points system among competition at Lakeside Speedway on Friday nights and Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg on Saturdays. Race divisions for the Top Gun series include: A-Mods, B-Mods, Pure Stocks, and E-Mods. Remaining Lakeside Top Gun Series Dates are August 23 and 30. The coinciding remaining dates at CMS are August 24 and 31.

The Top-Gun Series payout is based on five races at each track with the top 10 in each class receiving payout if they race at both tracks at least once. Payout is as follows. A-Mods: $1000, $800, $600, $500, $450, $400, $350, $325, $300, $275. B-Mods: $500, $375, $300, $250, $225, $200, $175, $175, $150, $150. Pure Stocks and E-Mods: $300, $225, $175, $150, $125, $115, $110, $100, $100, $100.
