All three nights of the upcoming tripleheader weekend for the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt have been postponed due to heavy rain this week that has caused track conditions and parking areas to be unsuitable for a safe and entertaining show.
Scheduled for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Wehrs Machine Bullring Bash at the Dallas County Speedway, Grant Junghans Memorial at the Lakeside Speedway and inaugural Bushwhacker at the I-70 Speedway have been postponed.
The new dates are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11-13. All times, prices, payouts and support classes (USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods) will remain the same—only the dates have changed.
“The only one of the three that had any chance this weekend was I-70 on Saturday, and even that one is now showing a chance of rain,” said USMTS President Todd Staley. “They’ll have the most sun and time to get the place race-ready but we can’t demand our competitors haul from Mississippi and South Dakota and California and Arizona for a one-night stand—especially with these ‘Build Back Better’ diesel prices we’re suffering through.
“We were all looking forward to this weekend so, yes, it sucks for us as well as the drivers and fans. Weather permitting, we promise to deliver an unforgettable weekend August 11-13.”
Lakeside Speedway will return to action next Friday, June 10, with the Berry Family Memorial and Weekly Racing featuring USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, Pure Stocks, E-Mods and Mod-Lites.
