Independence Day Weekend Action Was Fast Paced

July 7, 2022

Friday night marked the beginning of Independence Day weekend and the action was fast paced as expected. Once again mother nature came to race, but would be denied as the show got in before she could impact the night.

The first class to hit the speedway was the Pure Stocks. The show would see Darrin Schmidt and Chase Galvan on the front row. At the drop of the green it started with a good 4 car battle with Galvan, Schmidt, Rieley Yont and Marshal Jewett in tow. Eventually Chase Galvan would pull away from Schmidt to make his 3rd trip to the Rod End Supply Victory lane.

The next class out were the E Mods. Last weeks feature winner Steve Makar start up front and went flag to flag to garner his 2nd feature win this year. Kevin White would come home 2nd with Dennis Melvin, Devin Dultmier and Gerald Wahwahsuck completing the top 5.

The USRA Stock Cars were next and as usual they brought the heat. Ed Griggs would park it in the Rod End Supply Victory lane, but it didn’t come easy. Jaylen Wettengel had the 91J moving and put all kinds of heat on  Griggs but came up just short. Paul Lanferman would come home in 3rd position, the Atchison Kansas driver has had his struggles this year and its good to see him back to form. After taking a couple of weeks off Tommy Ground returned to come in 4th spot. Mr Consistency Doug Keller from Easton Missouri get the 5th position.

The USRA B Mods were up next and we would again see another repeat winner. Tim Powell out of Lansing Kansas would jump out to the lead and pick up his second win in the 2022 season. While Powell was on his way the excitement was behind him as Brayden Bennett moved up 12 spots to come home second. Nortonville’s Luke Nieman would get third with Nick Newton and Jesse Mulich rounding out the top 5.

The USRA Modifieds were the final show of the evening. Tyler Hibner would grab the early lead and would go on to pick up another trip to the Rod End Supply victory lane. He was followed to the stripe by Nic Bidinger, Dennis Elliot, Kerry Davis and Gunnar Martin. Don’t Forget this Friday is the Gary D memorial race with the USRA stock cars shooting it out for the 1000.00 top prize!
